Terms and Conditions
Registration
- Registration is confirmed only after the completed registration form has been received and required payment has been made.
- Learners must provide accurate and completed information during registration
- Irish Deaf Society Further Education and Training (IDS FET) reserves the right to refuse or cancel registration if registration requirements are not met.
Minimum age
The minimum age for enrolment in a course is 16 years.
Equal Opportunities
The IDS FET provides equal opportunities for all learners and applicants to access our education and training programmes.
Classes will be filled on a first come first served basis.
Payment
Course fees must be paid in full before registration is confirmed.
Registration is not transferable to another person or another course of term. Payment of the course implies that you accept these Terms and Conditions (T&C).
Attendance
- Learners are responsible for attending all scheduled classes. Missed classes cannot be refunded or made up by attending another class,
- Late arrivals or repeated absences to your course may affect completion of the course or eligibility for a certificate of completion.
- Certificates will be issued only to learners who meet attendance and assessment requirements.
Course
- For online courses, the learner is responsible for having access to the necessary technology, hardware, and software. Learners are responsible for ensuring they have access to reliable broadband.
- Once the course has started, any requests to change courses, e.g., to a different day or time, will be at the discretion of management and subject to availability on other courses.
Teaching staff Training
- Classes are occasionally used for teacher training or quality assurance purposes. This will always take place under the supervision of your ISL teacher.
- The IDS FET reserves the right to change teaching staff during the course.
Cancellation and Refunds
Learners should consider their personal and professional commitments and circumstances before enrolment as we regret that no fees are refundable once the course has started.
Cancellation before the course begins:
- Cancellation requests must be made in writing.
- A minimum of 14 days’ notice is required for a full refund.
- For cancellations made fewer than 14 days before the course starts, an administration fee may be deducted from any refund.
Cancellation after the course begins
- Once the course has commenced, course fees are non-refundable.
- No partial refunds will be given for missed classes.
- Missed classes cannot be postponed or transferred
Deferrals
Requests to course deferral after it commence will only be considered in exceptional compassionate or compelling circumstances. Requests must be submitted in writing and supported with supporting details and/or evidence. Please note that changes in personal or professional schedules will not normally be considered compassionate or compelling circumstances or grounds for a deferral.
Course Cancellation
The IDS FET reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule a course in the case of insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In such case, registrations will be offered either a full refund or a place on a future course (subject to availability).
Privacy
- Personal information collected during registration will be used solely for the administration of the course and handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
- Information will not be shared with third parties except where required by law or necessary for course delivery.
Code of Conduct
The IDS FET reserves the right to remove any learners whose behaviour is disruptive, abusive, or discriminatory. In such cases, no refund will be payable.
Force Majeure
The IDS FET is not liable for delays or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including severe weather, public health emergencies, industrial action, or other unforeseen events.
Photography/Recording (particularly for online classes)
Learners may not record classes or share, copy, upload, or distribute course materials (including notes, slides, or recordings) without prior written permission from the Irish Deaf Society.
Limitation of Liability
- The IDS FET is not responsible for personal belongings lost or damaged during the course.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law and in accordance with the Protection of Enrolled Learners (PEL) requirements, the provider’s liability is limited to the amount of the course fee paid.
