About the Course
This course, taught through ISL, teaches you how to use a computer safely and confidently. It is designed for beginners and those who want to improve their digital safety skills. Each 90-minute class will guide you through basic computer use, internet safety, and protecting your personal information online.
What You Will Learn
Introduction to Computers and Safety Basics
Learn how to turn on a computer, use a mouse and keyboard, and understand basic computer parts. Discover why safety matters when using technology.
Safe Internet Browsing
Learn how to browse the internet safely, avoid dangerous websites, and understand secure connections.
Creating and Managing Passwords
Understand how to create strong passwords, store them safely, and avoid common mistakes.
Recognising Scams and Phishing Emails
Learn how to spot fake emails, suspicious links, and online scams. Practice checking if a message is safe.
Protecting Personal Information Online
Learn what personal information should be kept private and how to protect it on websites and social media.
Using Antivirus and Security Software
Understand how antivirus software works and how to keep your computer protected.
Safe Downloading and File Management
Learn how to download files safely, avoid viruses, and organise your documents and folders.
Mini Project: Safe Email Practice
Practice sending and receiving emails safely, including checking attachments and links.
Planning Your Final Project
Choose a topic related to computer safety and plan a short presentation or demonstration.
Final Project Execution & Showcase
Present your final project to the group. Share what you’ve learned and get feedback.
