Good Storytelling
Learners who want to be good storytellers will attend this course. Learners will get tips and guidelines on how to be an effective storyteller, drawing from lived experiences. This course is offered by Fighting Words, a story collective, in collaboration with the Irish Deaf Society. Whether one is interested in Drama, Folklore or simply enjoy telling stories, then this is the course for them.
A six-week introduction to good storytelling that will provide the participants with the tools needed to create stories drawing on their own lived experiences and interests.
This series will help learners develop an understanding of basic storytelling concepts, develop the ability to take ideas forward to a draft stage and create stories.
Learners will make use of their own experiences and interests to generate material.
Learners will gain an understanding of the basic elements needed to create a story, for instance, characters, dialogue, structure, plot and timing.
Learners will learn by collaborating actively through discussion and writing prompts to generate material to develop.
