Children Books in ISL
ISL StorySign Stories
The Irish Deaf Society has received funding from Huawei and EUD to launch an exciting project. This follows on from the success of Huawei’s StorySign App and EUD have collaborated with Huawei to fund Deaf organisations in Europe to provide a project for their community. We have used this funding to provide ISL Linguistics workshops and ISL classes for parents and professionals working with Deaf children, which are ongoing. If interested you can contact us for more information.
We are delighted to announce that, as part of this project, we have produced 4 videos of ISL Stories for Deaf children! All 4 of the stories are Irish Legends and Myths as these types of stories are not available in ISL and we felt it is important to promote this part of Irish culture. We would like to thank publishers Gill Books and authors Yvonne Carroll, Fiona Waters and Felicity Trotman for giving us permission to use their book.
We will be launching a new video every Monday in June, starting on the bank holiday Monday, 1st June! Keep an eye on our social media accounts to see which story will be published every week. We really hope you enjoy the videos and please share with all your friends and family.
